fly

There's no Greyhound bus service in Alaska. The Alaska state ferry system does not go directly from Seattle to Anchorage. Really, the only way to get there is via plane. The only other way is to drive.

700 dollars for a ticket. And you might want to bring an extra 20 bucks for snacks if you get hungry. Oh, and if you come between October and April bring a LOT of gear, hats, gloves, and a snowsuit and that'll cost 100 bucks. Hotels are expensive so it'll cost ya 60 bucks. Extra money for luggage. That's about it. Overall I'd say bring 1000-2000 maybe 2500 dollars depending on the ticket. Hope I helped!!!!!

If you are traveling in a RV, motorhome, 5th wheel or travel trailer plan on at least two days. It can be done quicker but why? Enjoy the view, stop and see the sights. In my five months in Alaska last year I never saw anyone get a ticket for speeding, but with all the signs I'm sure it happens. Watch yourself on the Turnagain Arm streach of road. If you are really in a hurry, it can be driven in eight hours. That is if you don't get behind a RV caravan or some slow moving vehicle. Rules of the road are to let people pass if you have more than four vehicles behind you. Sometimes this isn't possible due to road conditions. Stop and watch the Dall Sheep on the cliffs above Bird Point. Spend some time at Aleska, a resort near Gridwood and watch the Parasailers, ride the tram to the top and have lunch. Visit Portage Glacier Visitors Center. Take a drive through the tunnel to Whitter, you'll be driving on railroad tracks, don't take a RV as it's too expensive. Drive on to Seward and visit the Exit Glacier and the marine bird center. There are so many stops along the way you might want to take a week like I did in 2006. Other good stops along the way are: Cooper Landing, Sterling, Ninilchik, Happy Valley and Soldotna. Enjoy yourself and drive safe.

About What is the best way to travel between Juneau and Anchorage

What is the best way to travel between Juneau and Anchorage?
I am planning on moving to Alaska for the fishing, hunting, and outdoor opportunities. I was originally considering the anchorage area for it's central location, surrounding mountains, ease of access by vehicle, and proximity to a larger city. I found a job opening in Juneau so was wondering if that would put me too far out of the way from the opportunities that exist in south-central Alaska. Is constant travel to that area from Juneau going to be very difficult?

Are you aware that the only ways in and out of Juneau are by air or water? There are not any roads to and from! If money and time are no object then you will be ok. Recreational opportunities also exist for you to enjoy in the Juneau area. Alaska is a huge state with many wonders. Welcome to our Alaska!

About What is the best way to travel from Seattle to Anchorage and back if not flying? Ferries

What is the best way to travel from Seattle to Anchorage and back if not flying? Ferries?
I'm looking for alternative means to travel from Seattle to Anchorage. Are there passenger boats/ferries? How expensive are they? How long do they take?

There are passenger ferries and they are relatively inexpensive. Rates would vary depending on if you would like a cabin, where you would be getting on/off, size of vehicle, etc. But the view...AMAZING!! Same passage as a cruise ship at a fraction of the cost. Enjoy your trip!

Alaska ferry system info at the link below. I've taken this trip, it's wonderful. As good a cruise, for less than a 1/4 of the money. Takes 4 days to get to Skagway, at least it did when I took the trip.

There aren't ferries that will bring you to Anchorage. I think it drops you off in Haines and then you have to drive.
